What is the purpose of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme 2023?
The main objective of providing this National Student Financial Aid Scheme is to send school leavers from minority families to school for studies. Besides, this scholarship has been introduced to make minority students willing to get an education and bear the educational expenses through the government. Who can apply for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme 2023?
Only students from minority families (Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi) from class 1 to class 10 residing in any state and union territory of South Africa can apply for NSFAS.
This scholarship is awarded to specific and limited students each year. Out of the total selected candidates, 30% of seats are reserved for girls. If for any reason the number of girl students is less than those places are filled with boy students. Here, the family income of the students is given more importance than the marks obtained in the examination. In case of equal income among multiple students, the merit list will be published based on the date of birth.
All students belonging to minority communities in South Africa who have passed their entire examination with 50% marks and whose household annual income is less than Rs 2.5 Lakh can apply for NSFAS Application 2023.
National Student Financial Aid Scheme 2023 Eligibility:-
Educational Qualification: –
- The applicant must be studying between Class 1 to 10 in any educational institution recognized by the government.
Family Income:-
The annual family income of candidates should be less than 2.5 lakh rupees.
National Merit Cum Means Scholarships Scheme 2022 Distribution Process:-
In addition to the renewal application, 30 lakh minority students will be brought under this scholarship scheme in the said Act. All students from families in South African states and union territories where the above religious communities are a minority as per the 2011 census will be covered under this scholarship.
Scholarship Amount/Benefits of National Student Financial Aid Scheme 2023:-
Through this scholarship financial assistance is provided to the students for Admission / Tuition Fees and maintenance. 500 rupees per month to those studying from home at the primary school level and 1000 rupees per month to those studying in hostels. 850 rupees per month to all from class V to class X. A stipend of Rs 50,000 per year is given from class XI to Ph.D.

- Tuition Fees are Rs 350 per annum for Class VI to X.
Maintenance Fees:-
- 100 per month from Class I to Class V.
